Student Book Review - "The Sister's Club"

http://www.meganmcdonald.net/files/bookimages/24255909.jpgStinks being the middle child? Right? Well that’s exactly how Stevie Reel feels like in this fabulous novel. Stevie Reel senses as if she is the glue holding the family together. Especially since “Boss Queen Alex” has gotten way too wrapped up in her school play and her leading man, it’s like there’s no more time for, well basically anything.
In the extraordinary story “The Sisters Club” we meet the protagonist Stevie Reel who feels similar to the glue holding the family together.  The family is excessively tied up in other things like acting and cooking, that there is no more time for the sisters club or even family dinners. There’s been much more drama and way too much arguing between the sisters and it all started ever since the “Boss Queen Alex” had gotten too caught up in her acting life and love live. Will the three sisters make up? Or will there be no more sisters club?
One of my favorite parts in this book was when Stevie the protagonist “borrows” her sister’s lucky sweater and once she pulls a thread on the sweater, the sweater comes apart. This was my favorite part because it had created some suspense at the moment and it strengthened the conflict some more. This was shown in the story when Stevie had ripped her older sister’s sweater, this had showed suspense because the reader did not know what she was going to do next. At this moment the book was also a great page turner.
Overall I would rate this enjoyable book 4 out of 5 because although it was a great suspenseful book, I would ask for a little bit more detail because I believe that it did not have as much of detail in the whole book itself and the conflict. Despite the fact that this book was lacking in detail, it was a great page turner and I would really recommend this book for anyone looking for some bumps along the way of the story.

Student Book Review - "One Piece"

One Piece

Has your friend ever done something behind your back and thought it would make you happy? Well that's what happens in this book. In this amazing book, a 17 year old boy named Luffy D. Monkey sets sail to become a pirate with a crew of 6 of his friends. Robin, one of his friends secretly sacrifices herself to the Navy. When Luffy and his other friends find out Robin sacrificed her life to ensure the safety of her friends they don't accept it. While Robin is chained up and waiting for the escort ship to come and take her to prison, she remembers all the good times she had with her friends and she realizes she wants to go back. When her friend find out they have to fight against the navy's cp.9 group of assassins to get her back. Now the final question is will they be able to get her back before she is taken to prison and will they make it out alive?
My favorite part of this book is when Luffy gets into a fight with one of the assassins named Bleuno. I can relate to Luffy because many times people do stuff for me behind my back that I don't like. To me this book is not the most   interesting in the series because some others have more interesting and important events. I would rate this book four out of five since this book is interesting because it has a lot of suspense. This book is also humorous and adventurous and it has everything I am looking for. I took off one star because some of the other books in this series are more interesting.

Student Book Review - Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The book is called The Hunger Games. The author of the book is Suzanne Collins. I personally love this novel. Five, no three pages into the book and I was hooked. I read it about 6 times. I also love this book because it is filled with violence and drama. So let me tell you more about the book.

The nation of Panem, a shining capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

My favorite part of the book was when Katniss and Peeta needed to kill each other even though they are on the same team, because there could be only one winner so they almost committed suicide, so the Gamemakers let them live.

The movie version is a bit different than the novel because it doesn't have many things the novel has, for example, in the book Katniss had to go to a feast but in the movie they didn't show it. This is the first book to The Hunger Games trilogy and all of the books were amazing but this book is the one that really gets my attention.

Katniss Everdeen reminds me of myself because like Katniss I have many talents but I am shy to show anyone, unless it is mandatory.

I rated this novel a solid 5 out of 5. It may sound like I am exaggerating, but I am not. The story is a violent, jarring, speed rap of a novel, that has constant suspense. I rated this novel a solid 5 because it was brilliantly plotted and perfectly paced.

Student Book Review: Clementine by Sara Pennypacker

Have you ever had a week that went terribly wrong? Well, this book for sure will relate to you my friend. I love this book so much because it is very humorous as well as heart-warming. This book is written by Sara Pennypacker.

This is about a girl named Clementine, who is a not-so-common third grader, and who is constantly being told that she needs to pay attention in class. On the contrary, she pays attentions to shrewd things, like looking for ceiling snakes. In this book, Clementine gets in trouble for cutting off her best friend’s hair. From this problem onwards, she has to face other problems along the week, like Clementine loosing her best friend, or she thinking that her parents are giving her away. These are some of the problems that she faces; although there are many more problems that can be counted. Also, she is not understood by her teachers in school.

Clementine reminds me of myself because Clementine yells at the principal and I yell at my brother many times. Also I like scaring off birds and Clementine helps her dad scare off the pigeons. There is no movie based on this book and, I have not read the other Clementine books in the series. My favorite part in the book is when Clementine makes a hat for her best friend Margaret which shows how powerful friendship is.

My rating for this book is 5 stars out of 5 (*****out of *****). I gave this rating because it has a wonderful story, with twists and turns. Also this book is has suspense and it has heart-warming moments.

Student Book Review - "Creepover, You Can't Come in Here" by P.J. Night

The book that I will talk to you about is called Creepover - You Can't Come in Here, and let me tell you it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Creepover is a book that I love because it’s...well….creepy! It’s about a girl named Emily Hunter who loves hanging out with her new neighbours, from their killer rec rooms to their great guitar skills. Drew and Vicky, aka her neighbours, are very cool. The only bummer is that they’re home-schooled and Emily’s other friends haven’t gotten to meet them yet. So Emily comes up with a plan to have a party and a sleepover. But, as Emily gets ready for the big party she begins to wonder about Drew and Vicky. They won’t let Emily go to a certain room of their house, and a wolf howls on their lawn every night, Is this only Emily’s overactive imagination or are the neighbours more than just a little strange???
Personal Connections:
My favourite part of the book is when Emily is watching a movie and when her dad keeps interrupting and she and her dad have a little cat fight (INSANE)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sadly this book does not have a movie version☹☹☹☹☹☹
In my opinion none of the other books in the series are as good as this one because the author uses more descriptive words.
Let’s be honest once you read this book you will start to realize that Emily is just like me because she hates it when people interrupt when her favourite movie plays and that is sooooooo me and she loves playing which is just like me sometimes I’m all about playing.
NOW THE MOST IMPOTANT PART OF THIS BLOG TIME FOR ME TO RATE THE BOOK!
ONLINE DRUM ROLL PLEASE!
5 STARS *****
I gave this book 5 stars because it’s such an amazing book. It’s my type of book and you won’t even have any questions while you are reading it because the author explains it all. For example when you’re reading a book and the author says this happened and you’re like how?!?! In this book you won’t do that at all. It’s also so creepy. you will find that out if you read the book.
I hope you enjoyed this blog thank you for reading.☺

Student Book Review - "Geronimo Stilton, The Golden Statue Plot"

REVIEW: Geronimo Stilton "The Golden Statue Plot"

Macintosh HD:Users:sajithan:Desktop:9780545556293_p0_v1_s260x420.JPGThe tile of my book for my book review is Geronimo Stilton And The Golden Statue Plot. The author of my story is Elisabetta Dama. To introduce the book I think that this book was amazing because pirate cats try to steal the Golden Statue of Liberty away because they thought it was made out of real gold. This book is about rancid rat hairs; the pirate cats are coming to town. They're planning on stealing the New Mouse City's Statue Of Liberty and taking it back to Cats Island. They think it's completely made out of real gold. His friends and him are determined to protect their city's precious symbol.
My favorite part of the book is when the pirate cats try to take the Golden Statue Of Liberty. There isn't any movie version. This book was just released so it was more interesting than all the books in the series.
This book doesn't remind me of the characters in the stories but it reminds me of my little cousin because in this book there is a little boy named Benjamin that looks like my cousin.
To wrap up my book review I rate this book a four out of five because some of the story was kind of boring and when it came to the middle and the end it was really interesting.

Diary of Wimpy Kid - Student Book Review

STUDENT BOOK REVIEW
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel
By: Jeff Kinney

This book is really awesome funny and great for all audiences. It’s about a really wimpy kid named Greg that has been annoyed by everyone in his family.

When Greg was not born his parents was still making him mad by making him listen to classical music because they thought Greg will be smart when he comes out. When his mom was sleeping, she snored and Greg would get really annoyed. When he was born, he slept in a cabinet because there was no room. When he got older all he wanted to do was find true love with a girl but no one liked him and when he finally got loved it hit rock bottom with that relationship. And you will not believe what it will take to fix this problem.

Greg reminds me of me because Greg has an older brother named Rodrick that really annoys him a lot and I have a brother that annoys me a lot.

I will rate this book 5 out of 5 because the book is really funny and interesting

"BABYSITTERS CLUB - Kristy's Mystery Admirer" Student Book Review

Student Book review

Kristy’s Mystery Admirer by Ann. M Martin

http://www.scholastic.ca/annmartin/bsc/lib/covers/bsc38.gif    Has this ever happened to you? Someone is sending you love notes? Probably not. Well, in this book, that is exactly the case. I just love the heart in this story. Pun very much intended! I think you’ll love it too!
In this fiction book, we meet Kristy, and her fellow babysitting group. Kristy is receiving... you guessed it: love letters from her secret admirer! Kristy and the Baby- Sitters Club (BSC) think it’s just a practical joke, but then the notes start to get a little weird... and creepy. Is it all just a prank, or do the strange notes mean something more serious? Only the Baby- Sitters Club can find out!
My favourite part of this book is when the notes start to get creepy because suspense starts to build up in the story. I can relate to this book because I babysit kids like my cousins just like the girls in the story. Some of the other books in the series also have some mystery in them. In all the books in the Baby-Sitters Club series, the girls babysit in a club, there is a problem to solve, and the girls work together to solve it.
I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 because this book has a great plot and some exciting twists. Also, the story includes mystery, one of my all time favourite genres. I would recommend this book to kids and teens who like mystery and friendship. Overall, this book was a wonderful and fun read!

"SWINDLE" - student book review

Student Book Review

"SWINDLE" by Gordon Korman
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/76/SwindleBook.jpg
Say you find something interesting, you probably think you can return it or exchange for something else, but sometimes that is not true, sometimes you might get tricked out of a deal...
In the book “Swindle”, we meet Griffin Bing who has found the solution to his family’s financial problems when he finds an extremely precious and rare Babe Ruth baseball card in a Rockford house which is very old, with his friend Ben. When Griffin tries to sell it to this mean collector named “Swindle”, he gets tricked out of the deal that he and Swindle made. Griffin and his friends must act and get the card back to save the financial problems Griffin’s family is facing. It will take courage and lots of help to get this precious card back and sooner or later breaking into Swindle’s heavy guarded house.
What makes this story so fun is that Griffin and his friends go through so many ups and downs to get the card back which makes it very funny. The book was very enjoyable and detailed but the movie wasn’t what I would expect. The movie had the same characters and the idea of Swindle but I felt like the acting needed a little more expression to it. This book was probably the best one out of the series because in this book everyone went through many crazy things and then they get locked up, it’s a very funny and enjoyable book to read.
Savannah Dysdale is a girl who works well with animals, and is someone who reminds me of myself. I really like animals and I always have a way to keep them calm, just like Savannah can.
So overall I think that this book was very good I rated it 4/5 stars, it showed how Griffin and his friends worked together as a team but one thing in my opinion that I would like to make the book better, would be a bit more action into it.

"SWITCHED AT BIRTHDAY" - student book review

Here is our VERY FIRST student book review! Enjoy:)
Comment with a positive comment about this student's work.

Switched At Birthday by Natalie Standiford

Have you ever woken up one morning only to find yourself in a totally different house, with different parents, siblings, and friends ? Probably not. Well, it did happen to two very different girls on the night of their thirteenth birthday.
The storyline of “ Switched At Birthday ” flowed by very smoothly and I enjoyed reading this book very much. This story all starts on the day of Lavender Schmitz’s and Scarlet Martinez’s  thirteenth birthday. They are born on the same day but that is the only thing that they have in common. No two people can be more different than Scarlet and Lavender. Lavender is considered the “Short, Hairy Loser” of the school, and her nickname “Lav” means bathroom in the U.K. Scarlet, on the other side, is one of the most popular kids at the school and her name is a jewel, literally, a jewel. The problem is, Lavender wakes up in Scarlet’s body, in Scarlet’s house, with Scarlet’s parents, siblings, and friends, and with Scarlet’s popularity. Scarlet wakes up in Lavender’s body, in Lavender’s house, with Lavender’s parents, friends, and siblings, let’s not forget, her VIP pass to being bullied and called names. Scarlet and Lavender work together to try to switch back to their normal selves. Problem is they have to do it without acting too suspicious.
This story is very unique. I personally have never switched lives with anyone but I think it would be a great experience to switch lives with someone whose life is totally different from mine. If I were in their situation, I would have done exactly what they did. My favorite part of the book was when Lavender woke up as Scarlet, and Scarlet woke up as Lavender. This is because I didn’t have a single clue of what was going to happen next and I thought that part of the book had the most suspense.
I would rate this book 5 stars out of 5. What made this story so enjoyable was the fact that it was very well written and flowed from event-to-event very smoothly. I also liked this book because
